Hi, I am Lillian, and I am so happy that you found me. I want to listen, and I want to be here for you. When we face challenges and adversities, we hope that they would not defeat us, and we wish to come out stronger. It’s never that easy, because we are growing amid disappointment, sadness, anxiety, isolation, pain, and self-doubt. But why are we seeking help, and why do we think about how things may get better? We still want to take opportunities to become better versions of ourselves, and we want to be capable and enough. That’s why I am a counselor. I wish to see you, to understand you, to hear you, and to care about you. Things may not get easier, but I have faith in you knowing that you are capable of growth and change. You will trust yourself more, and you will love yourself more. We will learn ways until we get there together.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A). I speak both English and Mandarin. I was born and raised in Wuhan, China, and I have spent over 10 years pursuing my counseling education in the United States. This gave me the privilege to understand the cultural values in both countries, as well as the acculturation challenges for international population. In my counseling experiences, I have spent time with those facing anxiety, depression, past trauma, self-doubt, self-harm and suicidal ideation, grief, acculturation challenges, relationship conflicts, career challenges, etc. In my doctoral training, I specialize in play therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT). Children use play as their language and toys as their words. In play therapy, children are invited to express themselves and process their emotion through intentionally selected toys with the therapist. I also provide parenting training to help parents learn therapeutic skills to improve their parent-child relationship.

I approach counseling sessions through a humanistic perspective, and I believe that relationship is the key to change. It is in our human nature that we desire to socially connect and belong. Our counseling relationship will help you gain awareness of how you respond and react with others. Through feeling safe and accepted in our relationship, you will empower yourself and test out different perspectives in approaching different interaction and environment.
